"American Idol" Star and Patchogue's Christian Guardian Releases New Single "Higher"

Singer and “American Idol” breakout Star Christian Guardino, has taken the country by storm with his soulful sounds and effortless riffs.

The 21-year-old first made his way on the scene back in March when he auditioned for “American Idol” performing “A Song for You” by Donny Hathaway. Guardino started his singing career at the age of nine and even audition for “America’s Got Talent” in 2017 at the age of 16.

Before this, at age 12, he was diagnosed with Leber Congenital Amaurosis, a rare inherited eye disorder that affects the retinas. He was able to undergo gene therapy, an experimental treatment. The procedure was successful in giving him back his sight.

Pushing past these obstacles, he was able to go on and give a performance that blew judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, away, securing him a spot in Hollywood and all the way to the top seven. He won crowds in-person and abroad with his performances like his rendition of the nostalgic Elton John classic “Circle of Life.” His duet and performance of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli’s “The Prayer” with fellow “American Idol” contestant Nicolina Bozzo also moved audiences. The singer gave solid performances during his time on the show until being cut last week to the upset of many fans.

However, the Patchogue native hasn’t missed a beat, making sure to put out something new for his fanbase. His single “Higher” is plain, simple and sweet as he asks for that special someone to just love him.

“Give a light, give a light/When I’m in the dark/Oooh, place your wanting hand/On my beating heart/Give me a sign that you’re mine/When it gets hard/And I will take the pain and burn these scars.”

The song tugs at the heartstrings, as he pours out his heart with his vulnerability on full display in hopes of receiving the same love.
