There are a decent amount of CBD shops on Long Island. However, they are rarely ran by women, let alone a Black woman. But, this is the case for the owner of Your CBD Store Port Jefferson.
The store was launched by Wading River Resident Dee Earle Browning. After going through back surgery, struggling to get a proper night’s sleep and trying different over-the-counter medications, Browning and her husband, Lee Browning Jr., began searching for more natural solutions.
Browning came across Your CBD Store, an international franchise that sells SunMed CBD products. She was impressed by the fact that the company made it’s products on U.S. soil and was founded by a woman, Rachel Quinn, who had her own health issues. The more Browning researched, the more her passion grew for the business. With over 20 years of experience working in hospitality and taking care of customers, she decided owning her own Your CBD Store was something she could do.
Lee, who is a developer, happened to have bought a space a few years ago, and with no renters, the Brownings decided it would be the ideal spot fix up and create their own Your CBD Store location.
All the pieces had come together, and on July 12, 2021, their doors officially opened. Products include topical creams and lotions, edibles, oils and they even have stress-relieving products for cats and dogs. Another component of the business is educating customers about the benefits and misconceptions of CBD as well as what the best regimen would be to eliminate or alleviate any health issues.
CBD, which stands for Cannabidiol, is one of the two main components, along with THC, in marijuana. It does not give the “high” effect like THC, but it can be used to alleviate pain and can treat insomnia, anxiety, depression, acne and more.
