Editor’s Note: According to a recent update from the police and photos taken, the second victim, Keith Harrison, lied about being hit by a car.
A man who struck a Black Lives Matter protestor in Huntington Station with his car has been arrested and charged with third degree assault.
According to the Suffolk County police, Anthony Cambareri, 36, of Coram, was operating a 2018 Toyota RAV4 westbound on Broadway when he struck a protestor standing in the roadway at approximately 6:45 p.m. Cambareri was not injured during the incident. The victim, whose name has not been revealed, was sent to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Part of Cambareri’s arrest was caught on film.
The police also said Cambareri was issued a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. It is uncertain whether or not the Suffolk County police will add a hate crime charge.
